Welcome to Wild Oaks Burrow
Motivated by post-burnout direction and built with intention, I’m cooking up an art and nature residency on my 33-acre property of WILD (and I do mean, very wild).
Initiation
These first tender years have been our initiation with the land which first offered fatigue.
Our front fields wanted to be left alone! The woods wanted to reclaim their wild and stand in the power of remaining an old growth forest surrounded by barren logged acres.
Our land welcomes blessed blessed rest. And gifts deep rest in return.
At Wild Oaks Burrow, we move slow, in rhythm, honor rest, and initiate.
Wild Dreams take Patience
Our dream started years ago when we stumbled across an abandoned 33-acre property and decided to make a move.
We were all tired of long commutes, the density of the city, and noise. I missed stars. I missed fields. I missed my family and we were missing full connection. My writing stalled. Family art nights were abandoned.
We moved on the property - and then it just sat.
Any time we’d try to curate a small offering…a beaver family would take up residence. We’d clear the brush…and it would grow back with vigor. I’d rework the trails…and the lines would be fuzzy by dawn the next day.
Ah, perhaps we her wild, then.
Summer Dabblings
Summer light has revealed little yellow flames of joy across our waterways. The beavers have moved downstream a bit and as the water peels back and onward, mud play has arrived at Wild Oaks Burrow!
Salt graces Cava Cava oranges - bringing out all the brightness.
Messy art making - inviting all the wonder.
Welcome summer, welcome!
